Rehabilitation on the couch is a method used to restore bodily functions after injuries, illnesses, or surgeries when the patient cannot perform active physical exercises due to movement restrictions or other medical reasons.
During couch rehabilitation, various techniques may be used, such as manual massage, stretches, gentle movements of kinesiotherapy, and other methods to improve blood circulation, strengthen muscles, and preserve joint mobility. This approach allows the patient to actively work on recovery without the need to leave the bed or couch, which is particularly important in cases of serious injuries or subsequent surgeries.
Couch sessions are conducted with clients in most cases when there are movement restrictions in the joints, after injuries, strokes, surgical interventions, and during the acute period. Additionally, such sessions are sometimes conducted with children under 10 years old. Eventually, the client may be transitioned to active exercises.
